“San Francisco”celebrates the Elderly Week

Different activities are planned for the elderly on “Open Day” in the residential home.

The Residential Home San Francisco celebrates in grand style “The Elderly Week”.The centre has organised a week of “Open Days” planned especially for our elders.Activities commenced last Monday in the patio of the centre where a group of residents joined in stimulating and psychomotor activities.

Carmen y Mª Luisa, who are responsable for the association Aguiproan arrived at the centre with four dogs. This is the second year that this activity is done in the centre San Francisco and it gives a chance to residentes to play and have fun with dogs. It has given good results with those that suffer illness such as Alzheimer.

Another sweet activity was the visit of a group of children who are studying catechesis. They were shown around and they had the opportunity of meeting residents.

On Tuesday morning a small couch-tour was programmed to visit downtown Aguilas. There was also time for films, on Wednesday our elders were treated to a morning viewing of “En sus Zapatos” (In their Shoes). That afternoon, those responsible for the centre organized a nice meal where the families of those who live in the residence were also invited.

On Thursday, in collaboration with the “Residence of Railway Workers”, a special bingo was organized atteded by many people. During the afternoon, everyone enjoyed the performance of Ballet Zambra and also with the musical child group “Veo , veo”.
Today Friday, activities focus on a visit to the Residence of Railway Workers and the election of the “Tuno” (member of a student music group), organized by the Housewife Association.

This weekend is also full of entertainment for our elders. On Saturday, La Cuadrilla de la Marina de Cope (group of musicians from Marina de Cope) and La Peña Flamenca de Aguilas (club of flamenco) will perform in the residence and on Sunday will be the closing ceremony.

The traditional Misa Rociera (musical Mass) and a “chocolate breakfast” will be the final acts of all activities until next year.
