Lost Spaniards will spend much more these days than during the rest of the year. It is now when commerce “feather their nest”. They will be able to verify how, in only a month, their sales will increase in a considerable manner.

In our town, and according to the information provided by the Commerce Association, an average family will spend from 700 to 800 euros in less than a month. This means that a salary bonus will be spent completely this Christmas, according to the Association.

(Most Spanish workers, with a long-term and permanent employment, receive twice the normal monthly wage in June and December. These extra payments are generally known as “paga extra” or salary bonus).

But not all commercial sectors will benefit in the same way in these holidays. This year, as previous years, food and toy items will be the recipients of profit during this consumerist month. Only in food we will spend more than 40% of our budget.

According to the sales departiment of different supermarkets, since the first days of December, there has been an increase not only in the amount of money spent but also there has been a change in those products that we buy.
