El prestigioso fotógrafo aguileño Ginés Asensio Chapapría suma a su larga lista de premios dos nuevos galardones, según ha informado la concejalía de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Águilas. En esta ocasión se trata, por un lado, del “60 Salón Internacional de Arte Fotográfico”, celebrado el pasado mes de octubre en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, donde Asensio ha conseguido el preciado “Medallón Dorado”.
El otro de los reconocimientos llega desde el “36 Salón Internacional de Arte Fotográfico”, evento que igualmente tenía lugar el pasado mes, esta vez en la localidad francesa de Sance, organizado por el Foto-Club M.I.C. Allí, el artista aguileño ha logrado el “Premio Especial al Mejor Retrato”.
Due to the celebration of Saint Cecilia this past Tuesday, which is the patron saint of music, the Musical Trust of Aguilas, like every year, has planned a wide programme of festive acts.
This programme started last Saturday with an extraordinary concert played by the Juvenile Band. The members of this group caused great expectation in the hall Alonso Escámez of the Trust, with their performance based on soundtracks of well known films such as “Chariots of Fire”, “The Magnificent Seven”, “The Last Mohican” and “Caribean Pirates” amongst other themes extracted from film history.
The concert was also the perfect setting for the admission diploma ceremony to all those new members of the band, during the interval. The celebration finished with the performance of the “Anthem of the Musical Trust of Aguilas”, written by A. Aullón, with Ginés Ramírez González as conductor.
On Sunday morning, as it is usuall, the traditional “collection” of new members. A parade through the streets of town, while they played merry tunes.
The acts continued on Tuesday, which was the patron saint´s day, with activities dedicated to the younger members of this institution: games, contests, and a tasty and rich afternoon snack.

Aguilas has registered a considerable increase of immigrants compared to those registered in 2004. Specifically, according to the information given by the Attention Service to Immigrants of Aguilas, there is a total of 4..257 registered immigrants in the town of Aguilas in October 2005, being the registered population of 32.639, in relation with the 2.837 that were registered in 2004, having in mind that the total population registered in Aguilas in that year was of 30.359.
Besides, the oficial toll points out that of those current 4.257 immigrants, 2.628 are men and 1,929 are women.
These numbers incluye immigrants that belon to the European Community and those that do not (foreigner), they all use this service and therefore are included in this group.
Maria Jose Garcia, social worker of the Attention Service to Immigrants, has stated that:
“A person is considered immigrant when he/she changes their residence to another area to improve their quality of life. The foreigner, however, is that person that simple moves to another country but the reasons for this action is not known. “Foreigner and immigrant are all but there are foreigners that are not immigrants, they are not looking for a job and they are not trying to improve their quality of life” she specified.

It is a bronze bust of King Charles III, the third work of Santiago created for the town of Aguilas, after the making of the monument dedicated to the Woman of Aguilas and the bust of the deceased actor Paco Rabal.
The ceremony of the uncovering of the bust was carried out with a huge media display and in the presence of Santiago de Santiago, Juan Ramirez, the Mayor, and the president of “Aguilas Residencial”, Fernando Guallar, the company that has donated the bust. Also, Luis Díaz, Official Chronicler of the town, several town councillors and members of the local Socialist party, as well as many directors and members of various associations and with the presence of citizens that wished to admire the brillant sculptor.
“I have tried to reflect the personality of King Charles III as faithful as possible. It has been a nice way to continue my work” Santiago de Santiago has also declared that he has still to finish an important work for Aguilas: a bust dedicated to the Fisherman of Aguilas.
The II Nacional Contest of the Amateur Theater “Paco Rabal” commenced last weekend, accompanied with great excitement of many residents and turists of Aguilas, following the great success of the first ocasión.
Amongst those present, were many representatives of Aguila´s social life, political authorities and citizens, and those related to local theater, actors and directors.
The contest, that is now one of the cultural events of the town, commenced with an original staging in front of “La Casa de la Cultura” (the Cultural Center). It was performed by the company “Mamakiska”, their entertaining acting, where actors mix up with the public, Mamakiska carried out an allegory of the origins of theater, going through all its different phases, up to the present day. At the end of the allegory, which included fire, those present settled down in the assembly room of the Casa de la Cultura, where the first of the four plays that take part in the contest, was played.
Minutes before, the contest was opened formally by Santiago Velasco, Juan Ramirez (Mayor) and Clara Valverde (Cultural Counciller), inviting everyone to the plays that will take place, every Saturday, during the month of November.
The play started around eight thirty. The staging called “No es tan fácil” (It is not so easy) by the company Calandraca Teatro, was a very original comedy. It managed to obtain roars of laughter from all those present thanks to the faultless performance of its four actors.
Directed by Helia Gavaldá and based on the script of Paco Mir, who belongs to the Tricicle company, the acThe local company Mamakiska during recreation in the streettion takes place in a bar, where a young man with the help of a waiter, is trying to find the best way of leaving his wife. With this plot, many funny situations kept the audience entertained. Without doubt, this first play was a complete success, and gave everybody hunger for more theater next week.
El busto del Rey Carlos III, nueva obra del escultor Santiago de Santiago, ya se puede contemplar frente al Ayuntamiento de Águilas.
El busto que el escultor Santiago de Santiago ha realizado para nuestra localidad luce ya en los jardines de la Plaza de España, frente al Consistorio aguileño. Se trata del busto al Rey Carlos III, una obra elaborada en bronce con la que Santiago hace su tercera aportación al municipio de Águilas, después de haber elaborado el Monumento a la Mujer aguileña y el busto del fallecido actor aguileño Paco Rabal.

El Águilas C.F no tiene intención alguna de abandonar el liderato. Así lo demostró la pasada jornada en el encuentro que disputó contra el Talavera, que ganó, no sin esfuerzo, por 2-1.
La suerte estaría del lado del conjunto blanquiazul durante todo el encuentro, comenzando por el gol que efectuó Torrecilla a 10 minutos del inicio del partido, gracias a un penalti cometido sobre José García. Tras estrenar el marcador, el Águilas logró mantener esa ventaja, a la vez que seguió buscando la portería contraria, a la que llegó en claras ocasiones sin llegar a materializar el esfuerzo en goles.
Buena jornada para el fútbol de base local.
Las diferentes categorías de la A.C.R Escuela de Fútbol obtuvieron muy buenos resultados la pasada jornada, tanto en los partidos que se disputaron en casa como los que se jugaron fuera.
Siguiendo la tónica de los últimos encuentros, los infantiles de primera, que se enfrentaban en el “Muñoz Calero” al Cordillera Vistalegre, lograron una holgada victoria por un 4-1. Los infantiles, que van por el camino de repetir la actuación de la pasada temporada, la cual finalizaron como campeones, mostraron una vez más un gran dominio del balón y una gran destreza sobre el terreno de juego.

El II Certamen Nacional de Teatro Aficionado “Paco Rabal” arrancó el pasado fin de semana ante la expectación de numerosos aguileños y turistas que nos visitan, que, tras el éxito de la primera edición, esperaban ansiosos una segunda entrega.
Hay que ver la que se ha liado. Como siempre, hemos vuelto a aparecer en la prensa regional con la cara sin lavar. Unas veces por historias de curas pederastas, otras por alijos de droga en nuestra costa, ahora aparecemos hechos unos zorros (de feos) con una historia que en otros municipios puede considerarse como un juego de niños. El caso es que podemos ponernos a hilar fino , deliberar, investigar y buscar la verdad ; al final, cada uno tendrá su verdad: la que cada cual decide fabricarse.
Vivimos un tiempo especialmente proclive a la añoranza. Es éste un efecto reactivo de tanto empecinamiento “modernizador” como nos aqueja, con una usualmente falsa modernidad que nos conduce, infaliblemente, por la innovación al arcaísmo. Así, ante el neo-tribalismo nacionalista de nuestras periferias (las históricamente mejor tratadas por el estado español, por cierto), ante las propuestas y posturas desarticuladoras de realidades históricas consolidadas por siglos (por ejemplo, la convivencia solidaria de las regiones españolas), y sobre todo, ante el consentimiento bobalicón o cómplice de quienes tienen la responsabilidad máxima en la defensa de España, sólo caben consternación y añoranza. “¡Vuelva usted, señor González!” se ha oído hace poco en boca de un líder de la oposición al actual clan jacobino desgobernante. A veces, “cualquiera tiempo pasado fue mejor”. Parafraseando al señor Rajoy, un analista clamaba últimamente: “¡Vuelva usted, señor Azaña!”.
