The Carnival Boat Race 2006 presented

Last Tuesday, the 24th of January, the head office of the Nautic Club of Aguilas, presided as the host of the presentation of the Carnival 2.006. This presentation was attended by the Mayor of Águilas, Juan Ramírez, the Councillor of Culture, Clara Valverde,as representation of the Government Body, also the Pesident of the Sailing Association of Murcia Manuel Roca, and the President of the Nautic Club of Águilas, Íñigo Anza.

For one more year, paper costumes will shine again this Carnival, thanks to almost 20 people, who belong to the dressmaking workshop are deep into the preparations, so that everything will be ready for the 19th of February. This year, and according to Ernesto, who is a member of the Federation and one of the coordinators of this contest, “less costumes will be made than last year.

Águilas presents, once more, their offer in FITUR

Aguilas will present for another year, their tourist offer in FITUR 2006, this is, the International Fair of Tourism of Madrid. The fair opened up its doors yesterday and it will continue this weekend until next Sunday, the 29th.

District of Tébar celebrates Saint Antón one more year

Moments of the procession of the saint.
The district of Aguilas, Tébar , dressed up last Sundy to celebrate, one more year, the village´s patron saint, Saint Antón Abad (this Spanish Saint protects pets and other animals). As it is usual, the very first act was the celebration of Holy Mass. Followed by the traditional act of blessing of all animals. These were the acts that, starting at noon, opened the activity programme planned for the day.

The Council Chamber of the Town Hall in Aguilas was the choosen setting for a meeting between more than thirty representatives of different organizations and institutions that will take an active part in the Carnival Security Board last night. The reason for this meeting was to have an initial contact to be able to start the preparations for the Specific Plan 2006.

The Mayor of Águilas, Juan Ramírez, and the Councillor of Culture, Clara Valverde, handed over on Wednesday morning, the 18th of January, two cheques of 3.000 Euros to the Spanish Red Cross coordinator in Águilas, Miguel Molina. These cheques will be sent to the “Help Programmes” that the Spanish Red Cross is developing in Guatemala and Pakistán.
