A new group helps mental patients.

AFEMAC´s project has in mind not only those affected but also their families and plans to relieve family problems related to psychic illness.

Those affected by mental illness of Aguilas and their families can rely, since last Saturday the 19th, on the new association AFEMAC (Association of mental patients of Aguilas and its municipalities) that will try to dignify, normalize and rehabilitate those ill. At the same time it will give support and advise relatives.

This association “is born without sign, label or political colour. It belongs to everyone and it is for everyone” declared the secretary Alicia César.

Its principal aims are to defend the fair social development of those ill and to endeavour medical, pedagogical, juridical and social assistance that they may need.

Besides, AFEMAC, presents a complete plan full of activities where we can emphasize a campaign to raise public awareness, excursions, camps and conference days, self-help groups, talks followed by a discussion and the active participation in all local celebrations.

In this project, AFEMAC´s board of directors hopes to count on the help from public and private organizations, from which they expect to obtain the necessary financing to be able to develop the proposed activities.
